Complete Tissue and Bone Salve       source: Public domain - internet

This is the recipe for my Zen Balm, except that I have added a proprietory mix of oils, but the basic formula is the same

A part is whatever you make it, however weigh your ingredients as they vary greatly in weight and volume

6 parts White Oak Bark

6 parts Comfrey Root

3 parts Marshmallow Root

3 parts Mulein Herba

3 parts Walnut Bark

3 parts Gravel Root

2 parts Wormwood

1 part Skullcap

1 part Lobelia

Mix herbs and cover with Olive Oil, just enough  that they move freely.

Simmer the herbs until they start to show crispy (I judged by the smell)

250 oven or crock pot on low for 3-4 hours.

Strain herbs with cheesecloth (remember to give the herbs back to the earth)

For every cup of oil, ¼ cup of beeswax

You can also use just the straight oil as a massage oil or to use on large areas.

The Swedish Bitters Recipe                source: Public domain - internet

10 gm. Aloe*

6 gm. Myrrh

2 gm. Saffron

10 gm. Senna leaves

10 gm. Camphor**

10 gm~ Rhubarb roots

10 gm. Manna

10 gm. Theriac venezian

5 gm. Carline Thistle roots

10 gm. Angelica roots

10 gm. Zedoary roots

This mixture is put into a wide-necked 2 liter bottle and 1.5 liter of 38% to 40% rye or fruit spirit are poured over It. The bottle is left standing in the sun or near the stove for 14 days arid shaken daily. The liquid is then strained and poured into small bottles, well-stoppered and stored in cool place, This way it can be kept for many years. The longer it stands, the more effective it becomes! Shake well before use! Alternatively, some of the liquid can be strained into a small bottle and the rest left in the bottle until required.

*Instead of Aloe, Genetian root or Wormwood powder may be used.

**Only natural Camphor should be used.

THIS RECIPE was found among the writings of the well-known Swedish physician and rector of medicine, Dr Claus Samst. He died in his 104th year in a riding accident. His parents and grandparents all reached a patriarchal age.

       Skin Care

Aloe Vera All Over              Recipe source: winter '97 handcraft magazine

This is a soft cream/lotion that is very healing and especially good for those with skin problems and those who are exposed to harsh conditions.  It can be used all over the body and feels great!  It absorbs readily into the skin.

Big plus! It does not spoil easily without the aid of refrigeration.

1 cup Aloe Vera gel

1 teaspoon lanolin

1 teaspoon vitamin E oil

1/3 cup coconut oil

3/4 cup good carrier oil

1/2 oz. beeswax

essential oil/oils of choice

Place Aloe Vera gel, lanolin and vitamin E oil in a blender or hand mixer.

Place the coconut oil and beeswax in a 2 cup pyrex measuring cup.

Microwave on high for 30 seconds and stir.  Repeat in 10 second blocks until fully melted.

Stir in carrier oil, reheating if necessary.  Run blender or hand mixer at medium speed, pouring melted oils in a thin stream.

As the oils are blended it will turn to cream.  As soon as it is white and a mayonaise like consistency it is ready.  Stop motor and add essential oils if desired.  Pulse blend until conbined.  Do not over blend.  Transfer to jars while still warm, it does thicken quickly.

Recipe Testimonial:
I have a friend who's niece had a large red, itchy spot on her hand and some fingers.
She had it since she was a baby and is now 21, and always hated this red spot, and was embarrassed about it being in her upcoming wedding pictures.

I gave my girlfriend some of this cream I made from this recipe, and she diligently used it everyday. Within a week she said the spot started to fade, and within a month it was completely gone for the first time since she could ever remember!
She was thrilled to say the least and got married with no redness at all in her pictures.
I don't know that it would work for anyone else, as I don't even know what this girl had, but she had it since a very young child. It was in all her pictures growing up.
